Services
The Victorian Security Union Incorporated (VICSU) is an Industrial Association (The Association) which represents it’s Members in a variety of Industrial related areas including:
Workplace Disciplinary Disputes;
Enterprise Agreement Bargaining;
The Fair Work Commission;
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (Human Rights Division);
Magistrate’s Court (Industrial Division);
Health and Safety/Worksafe Representation; and
General Industry Advocacy for it’s Members.
Refund Policy on Membership
Membership is not a service, however, services may be provided with your membership.
Joining and cancelling your membership are handled under the Union’s Rules of Association.
We do not refund on membership to date but will refund any overpayments or payments processed after cancellation on request.
Limitations
The advice that it provides is based on it’s experience and that of it’s Authorised Officers however does not constitute legal advice unless done so by an Authorised Legal Practitioner. As such all advice provided is at the Members choice and Members are advised to seek any counsel they see fit in addition to that provided by VICSU.
Where VICSU seeks legal advice it will inform the Member of any known risks prior to the taking of procedural actions. VICSU may opt to provide financial support towards a member’s case which may include partial or full financial support from the union.
VICSU reserves its rights and the rights of its members to ensure any legal matter will be managed appropriately before such assistance is provided. This may be done by seeking advice or after doing so, advising the Member which counsel or avenue it believes might be in the members best interest.
Our Members Decide
At all times, VICSU’s Member has the final decision in any representational matter, legal or otherwise.
The Victorian Security Union provides all services, products and fees in accordance with Australian (Federal) and Victorian (State) laws and will comply with all lawful instruction or directions under them.
VICSU reserves the right to separate itself from any action where those actions were not explicitly directed by VICSU.
Committee Decisions
Only the committee and those authorised by the committee to act in official capacities may act on behalf of VICSU. Appointed officers are listed on the contact page of VICSU’s website and respond through communications bearing VICSU’s domain email address.
Delegates and Members
VICSU may appoint, through election or its committee, members to represent the immediate workplace interests of its members. When it does so, it will clearly communicate with interested parties that it has done so.
As a Member of VICSU, it remains your responsibility to conduct yourself in a lawful manner and to ensure the safety of both yourself and other Members of VICSU through the course of any actions under your control.
As a Member of VICSU, you agree to treat other Members, Volunteers and Associates fairly, without discrimination and without fear of bullying or harassment.
